The Deanship of Library Affairs at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University in Al-Kharj was established in order to contribute to achieving the university’s goals in the fields of education, scientific research and community service, pursuant to the Acting Minister of Higher Education Resolution No. 1232/A dated 06/14/1432 AH, as it plays a leading role in supporting the educational process. The Academy is represented in establishing an important bridge linking the male and female student and faculty member to provide the main reference for services and knowledge sources of all kinds and to provide high-quality services through the optimal investment of its human resources and modern technologies to build effective strategic partnerships for excellence and leadership in library services in accordance with the aspirations and pillars of achieving The vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030 in the education sector.
With the progress of the wheel of time and life and the developments of science and technology in various fields, especially in the multiplicity of uses of computers and smart and fast means in which tremendous revolutions have taken place in the field of their technologies, the Deanship of Library Affairs at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University did not stop the traditional role of its users and strived towards allocating and bringing technologies Modern work in terms of starting the work of automating and digitizing libraries and continuous work on developing them, which made many databases available at the disposal of students, faculty members and researchers in a way that ensures the improvement of their level, most notably the subscription to the Saudi Digital Library to include the provision of 39 databases, 13645 journals and 429,868 books electronic.
The Deanship technically and administratively supervises all library affairs at the university’s main headquarters in Al-Kharj and its branches in the faculties of its various governorates, which amount to 15 libraries, which have fed 33,183 books over the past five years, ranging from scientific, health and humanitarian disciplines, to represent the basic books of knowledge that the beneficiaries need.
The holdings of the Deanship of Library Affairs at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University in Al-Kharj and its branches of books in the academic year 1441 AH / 1442 AH amounted to 50,418 titles and a total of 225,522 volumes.
In terms of the number of loaned books and the number of borrowers in the university’s libraries during the academic year 1441 AH / 1442 AH, the Deanship was able to keep pace with the rapid demand and provide them in its various forms for the university’s employees, including male and female students, members of the faculty and non-university researchers, as the total number of books loaned Arab and foreign reached 2761 titles It represented a total number of 2814 borrowers, 2079 of whom were students, 627 of whom borrowed professors, and 108 other beneficiaries.
The Deanship is also interested in achieving continuous knowledge communication with all the beneficiaries of the university’s employees, including male and female students, faculty members and beneficiaries, researchers from outside the university, and supporting their information needs, including providing courses and educational activities that contribute to developing the level and skill of lectures, workshops and courses. Training, where the Deanship of Library Affairs at Prince Sattam University receives its visitors daily from Sunday to Thursday from eight in the morning until eight in the evening.
